Epson Stylus C88+ Ink Jet Printer (C11C617121)

Very disappointing1

I have always been a big Epson fan. However I have been extremely disappointed with this printer. First of all it burns through ink cartridges which gets expensive. Secondly I am constantly having to clean the nozzle heads to prevent gaps (which uses even more ink) so that the text on my documents is legible. It's so bad I have to clean them before almost every print job and even then I rarely get a page to print out cleanly. Also the printer has major problems with the paper feed - mostly when trying to print double-sided. After *every* page I have to push the paper feed button. Very annoying for large documents. Finally when printing photos or anything that has a lot of ink coverage the colors are terrible. It's been so frustrating I am thinking of forking over for a laser printer. Avoid buying this printer!More detail ...

Epson WorkForce 30 Color Printer (Black) (C11CA19201)

Epson WorkForce 30 Color Printer C11CA192015

This order was received on time and intact. After installing the software and printing a "test page" we selected a digital picture of multi-colored reef on the ocean floor and printed on hi-glossy photo paper. The printed image looked as if we had the picture developed from a professional photo print shop.

The only issue has been in finding replacement printer cartridges from internet supply shops at discount prices. If we have to buy these cartridges (2 black one magenta one yellow and one blue) from Epson that could be the downside to the selection of this particular printer.More detail ...

Epson Stylus NX515 WiFi Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer (C11CA48231)

Fast excellent output easy setup5

I bought this all-in-one because my other printer is not a copy-capable printer and we need that capability. I did some research and finally decided on the Epson NX515 after reading several reviews. So far I have been very pleased with it. I have a couple of small gripes but nothing that cannot be overlooked.

The NX515 is actually a relatively small printer taking up a little less space than any of my previous printers. It is also lightweight and easy to move should there be a need.

Setting up the NX515 is simple. There is a quick-start guide that explains the process of configuration and it makes the set-up almost foolproof. From the time I opened the box to the time I had a working printer that was producing output was less than 15 minutes and there were no confusing or difficult steps in the process.

The only negative about the setup is that Epson like almost every other printer vendor does NOT include a USB cable in the box. The cost of a USB cable is actually only a couple of dollars (they're a high-profit item) so including one would not break the bank. If you do no have a spare USB cable available and you wish to direct-connect this printer be sure to pick one up before trying to set up.

Once configured the NX515 is a very capable printer. It has the fastest print speeds I have ever seen in an inkjet printing faster in standard mode than I have seen most printers print in draft mode (for standard text - does not apply to photo printing). The quality does not suffer either and is excellent. I was pleased to see than this printer does not produce the banding I have seen in Epson printers' output in the past.

The control panel for setting up copying is very easy to read and very easy to navigate. It is very simple to change copy parameters and the instructions in the panel are straightforward.

I have not used the scanning capabilities of the NX515.

One feature I wish was available even if it required buying an attachment is automatic duplex printing. My other printer handles duplex printing with ease and requires no intervention at all. The NX515 does duplex printing but it requires manual intervention. This is a minor inconvenience not a deal-breaker.

Epson has produced a very nice all-in-one in the NX515. The setup is simple and the print speeds are absolutely stunning. It is by no means a perfect device but it is an excellent product at an excellent price (approximately $110 at the moment). If you need a printer that can handle scanning and copying while producing beautiful prints give this printer a close look.

Epson Picturemate Charm Personal Photo Lab Inkjet Printer (C11CA56203)

Greatest little printer I have ever used!5

I just received my printer yesterday afternoon from Amazon and in about 20 minutes I was printing some of the greatest 4x6 pictures that I have ever printed!! I have always been an HP printer person - but just got tired of always having to buy more ink cartridges - and they are not cheap! So I figured up the cost of a print on glossy paper with this printer and looks like it will be about 27 cents per picture - that is about as cheap as I can take a disk to WalMart or Sam's and get them done - and the picture quality is just as good - maybe better. I still have my HP printer for those "bigger" prints that I need - but in my opinion you just can't beat this little printer for 4x6 and smaller prints and it is so cute! I might have to get the rechargeable battery so I can take it to parties and things to give prints away - at that price it is totally doable.

Epson Artisan 710 Wireless Color Inkjet All-In-One Printer (C11CA53201)

Side by side with Canon5

I read review after review debating which printer I should buy for mostly photo reproduction. While not wanting to go to the large size photo dedicated pro version....I wanted to stay under $200. It came down to the Canon Mp640 and the Epson Artisan 710. Reviewers were pretty much split between the two as positive and negative...What to do? Both have very similar features...wirless scan etc..neither of which had much to do with my decision. I finally just decided to take my SD card and have each printer print two or three of the same pic. I started with the Canon and the print menu was easy and the print speed was great. The pics were very good but at side angle had a bit of a hazy quality. Uploaded the same images to the Epson....there was no comparison photo lab quality through and through. There were areas of one image that were dark and undifined in the Canon print but were detailed and exposed well in the Epson.

When you also look at Epson having a 2 year warranty vs. 1 for Canon it says something. The real kicker is from my research I had every intention of buying the Canon....but the proof was in the photos.More detail ...

Epson Stylus Photo 1400 Large Format Photo Printer (C11C655001)

Big win!5

I've had this printer for just a week and I'm amazed at the results. It was easy to set up and is easy to use. I took a look at "Real World Color Management" by Fraser Murphy and Bunting before I started using the printer. It's a helpful book even if you just skim a few of the early chapters. It helped me to understand the printer's advanced options and to get the results I wanted. You could just use the printer with the out of the box settings and I suppose it would produce really nice results. I'm an artist though and I want to be in control. That's why I bought this printer I was frustrated with unpredictable results from labs.

A note on ink:

I have been printing on glossy paper. At $18.99 per cartridge for ink (Epson website price with free overnight shipping if you order at least three cartridges at a time) so far

- my 8.5" x 11" prints are roughly $1.20 - $1.80 for ink

- my 13" x 19" are about $3.50 - $5.50 for ink

(Printing in "Photo" mode puts your costs at the low end of the ranges. Printing in "Photo RPM" mode costs about 40% - 50% more and puts you at the high end of the price ranges. I usually cannot distinguish between "Photo" and "Photo RPM" modes so I almost always print in "Photo" mode. Occasionally I notice banding or tones which do not appear smooth on very close inspection then I switch to "Photo RPM.")

Warning: I believe ink use varies considerably with paper type. less ink for glossy more ink for semi-gloss and still more ink for matte and art paper. I'm not sure though.

I am printing on Inkpress Glossy paper (equivalent in weight sheen and brightness to Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper) which I ordered from B&H Photo. It's less expensive than Epson paper and looks spectacular.

In fact I recently gave two 8x10's to a friend as a gift. She thought they looked wonderful and was astonished to learn that they were inkjet prints. She thought they must have been "professionally" printed at a lab. I was pretty flattered (credit to the printer too of course...) She also happens to be an artist and professional web designer so she's got a fine eye.

---------------

Update:

I've used the printer some more. I'm still very pleased. However I've looked closer at the Inkpress paper I mentioned above. From a distance it looks great but closer up it has many problems. Almost every sheet is covered with fine scratches and about half the sheets have at least one major defect (some as large as 1/8" in diameter) where the gloss coating did not cover the paper. The defects are like little potholes on the surface. At first I thought I had caused these problems through poor handling. Epson Premium Photo Paper Glossy has an absolutely flawless surface though and I have handled the prints the same way. I don't recommend the Inkpress paper.More detail ...

Epson Artisan 50 Color Inkjet Printer (C11CA45201)

Epson Artisan 505

This is my first Epson printer. I've always owned HP but I was particularly interested in being able to print CD/DVD labels. I've owned this printer now for a couple of days and am totally pleased. The directions for getting started were easy and I was able to begin use immediately. The quality of the labels are excellent good color looks professional and it prints quickly. I am not one to usually review products but this one I found well worth the money value and am happy that I made the purchase. The only thing I'd change would be for the software that comes with the CD/DVD printer format I wish it did more but I find it sufficient. I'd definitely recommend. Does well with documents as well.\
